Language
Spanish is the most widely spoken language throughout Honduras. In larger cities and popular tourist destinations uch as Tegucigalpa or Bay Islands, you may find some English speaking locals. Outside of these areas, don’t count on finding many, if any, English speaking persons.
Name
The Spanish name for Honduras is, República de Hondura. Or, the Republic of Honduras.

Electricity and plugs
Honduras uses the typical US pronged outlets. This includes 110V/60Hz (two-prong North American plug).
Currency
The national unit of currency in Honduras is the Lempira (HNL; symbol L) and is equal 100 centavos. As with all other currency, the exchange rate fluctuates daily. As of now, the US Dollar is equal to L19.16 Lempira.

Banks and ATMs
ATMs can be found in most tourist destinations and “larger” cities throughout the country. Foreign debit cards can sometimes have problems with ATMs in Honduras, so have a backup.
Most all banks in Honduras will cash travelers checks without any problem. These are your best source of backup funds.
Banks have the best exchange rate, but most money exchangers on the street will charge about the same amount as the banks.
